Zenia and Tim’s cheerful summer wedding at Williamsburg Winery featured lush greenery and blooms inspired by the Scottish landscape. Sunflowers provided a vibrant pop of color in the bridal bouquet and the lavish arrangements.
Florals with a Scottish Flair
Shortly after Zenia and Tim began their relationship, Zenia moved to London to attend the Royal Veterinary College. Despite the distance, their relationship flourished, and they tied the knot on July 28, 2018. In Zenia’s time abroad, she fell in love with the Scottish countryside, which inspired much of the wedding’s floral design.
To accomplish the countryside aesthetic, we used wax flower to replicate the look of heather. Blue thistle also gave the florals a Scottish touch. Sunflowers added a cheerful pop of color to complete the look.
Sunflower Sprinkled Stairway
We got the opportunity to make a stunning first impression for the guests by decking out the stairway near the entrance. Zenia entrusted us to get creative with this piece and we ran with it! In keeping with the Scotland inspiration, we designed the stairway florals to look like a meadow growing up the bannister. We incorporated sunflower into the design, which really made the display pop.
Wessex Hall Ceremony Design
For peace of mind, Zenia and Tim chose to have their ceremony inside Wessex Hall, even though it was summer. They didn’t want to chance rain or an especially hot day. This allowed us to create a full, lush floral display on the fireplace mantle, which was the focal point of the ceremony. The display featured a mix of greenery with thistle, white lisianthus, sunflowers, white snapdragon, white roses, and white wax flower.
We designed the display to climb partway up the chimney on one side, and drape down toward the floor on the other. Pillar candles of various heights also graced the floor around the fireplace. To complete the ceremony design, we decorated the large rustic chandeliers with delicate vines, and placed two tall, full arrangements atop the wine barrels at the start of the ceremony aisle.
