Fall Kingsmill Resort Wedding

bride and groom kissing at Kingsmill Resort

Last year I celebrated my 35th birthday on the same day Blaine and Darren celebrated their wedding: October 20th. It was a beautiful fall day at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg—perfect for the couple’s outdoor ceremony. This lovely couple said “I do” outside on the lawn and hosted a lively reception inside the James River Ballroom.

Creating the Bridal Bouquet

Blaine and Darren’s wedding was a classy, elegant celebration at Kingsmill Resort. We designed the florals with shades of white, ivory and champagne, highlighted with greenery and gold accents. We created a hand-tied textured garden bouquet for the bride to complement her ivory lace gown. The bouquet featured ivory rose, white snowberry, white astilbe and eucalyptus.

Centerpiece Variety

Because it was a large reception, we created three different variations of centerpieces. Opting for multiple centerpiece styles is a great way to bring dimension to a reception—especially for a large venue. It can also help bring down the cost.

The first centerpiece we created for Blaine and Darren’s reception featured stemmed glass vases and floating candles, accented with greenery and snowberries. The second style was a bouquet in a gold mercury glass vase, surrounded by five frosted glass votive candles. The third variation featured a tall gold metal stand topped with a lush garden arrangement, with five votives around the base. Since the James River Ballroom at Kingsmill Resort is very large and it was a large wedding, we designed these elevated centerpieces along the perimeter of the room. This helped bring the attention to the center of the room. It also ensured all the guests had a clear view of the dance floor.

It was an honor to be a part of Blaine and Darren’s special day! We wish them a happy 1-year anniversary and many wonderful years to come.
