The Mill at Fine Creek is the perfect wedding venue for nature-loving romantics. We were thrilled to be a part of Anna and Matt’s romantic Beauty and the Beast inspired celebration at this elegant venue this past May. Although the couple planned the wedding from a distance, the day turned out absolutely beautifully. You would never have guessed they were planning the whole thing from afar!
“Karen is absolutely amazing! She was a recommendation to us from our amazing wedding planner (Greenery & Grace), and we couldn’t have been happier. I knew looking at the flowers and ideas she sent me that it was exactly what I was looking for and what I was envisioning. Karen really brought my wedding vision to life. The flowers, signage, and table settings were absolutely perfect. We got so many compliments on them. During the planning process Karen was super easy to work with and even sent us some of the sweetest gifts.”Anna
Anna and Matt were married in the ruins of the Mill, in front of beautiful old stone walls covered in ivy and greenery. It’s such a romantic setting, perfect for couples wanting the charm of nature, but still an elegant feel. The overgrown wisteria and other greenery of the ruins created such a lush, vibrant backdrop for their wedding photos. This is truly a dreamy venue for an outdoor spring wedding ceremony.
A Beauty and the Beast Aesthetic
Muted pink florals with a pop of deep burgundy contributed to the Beauty and the Beast aesthetic. To achieve this look, we combined blush florals, including astrantia and roses, with burgundy roses and scabiosa. With added greenery and white florals, the bouquets were very romantic and fitting for the ceremony backdrop.
The Beauty and the Beast theme continued into the reception. The tables were adorned with taper candles atop gold candlesticks, set among a host of greenery and romantic florals. The head table featured the most obvious nod to the Tale as Old as Time: a stunning gold candelabra, accented with greenery, florals and votive candles.
Note: It’s important to keep venue rules in mind when planning your decor. Because the Mill at Fine Creek doesn’t allow open flames, we had to make sure the tapers were covered with glass sleeves. We also covered the candelabra votives with hurricane glass to comply with the policy.
Planning from Afar
With the help of their wedding planner, Jenny Keen of Greenery & Grace, Anna and Matt planned their Richmond wedding all the way from Texas. Our team worked directly with Jenny to conduct the initial consultation and create the proposal. We then met with Jenny at the venue to discuss our ideas, and then presented the plan to Anna via video call.
Thankfully, technology has made it much easier for couples to plan their weddings from a distance. By utilizing video calling, digital inspiration boards and other technology, we are able to help couples plan their wedding florals, even if they can’t be there in person to do so.
