Autumn Wedding at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, Charlottesville, VA

A birthday party, a couples massage, and nine years later they are married!

Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards celebration

As soon as Ernest jumped on the initial floral design consultation call along with Erin, I had an inkling they would be a fun couple to work with.  They do not disappoint!  They approach every decision as a team, upholding their deep love for family and friends along the way.

Mountain views in Charlottesville, VA

Erin initially dreamt of a lush flower arbor set against the Charlottesville mountain views for their ceremony backdrop.  Yet a desire to include more close friends in their celebration also hangs in the balance of budget considerations.  Putting our creative minds together, we come up with a simplified, yet equally captivating ceremony design.  Lush hydrangea, larkspur, and rose arrangements flank the aisle, while a cocktail table tied with silver dollar eucalyptus garland accents the mountain view.  Just enough design elements for a beautiful setting, yet also reflecting Erin & Ernest’s relational values.

Brothers: a bond not easily broken

Making clear relational statements is nothing new to Ernest.  During our walk-through at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, he proudly displays the tattoos on each forearm: the names of each brother.  Sharing a room growing up and  getting into antics as brothers do, created an inseparable bond.  Now permanently inscribed on all three brothers’ arms!

It pays to be bold…

Ernest’s knack for intentional relational moves also wins him Erin’s heart. Early on Erin shared,

“I should have known Ernest was the one when he took me on our very first date (after meeting my freshman year at Virginia Tech).  He picked me up and surprised me with a couples massage followed by Ben & Jerry’s ice cream – does it get any better than that?! So brave and clearly it worked!”

What motivated Ernest to take such a risk?  He said he wanted to be crystal clear that his intent was romantic in nature, eliminating any chance of being placed in the friend zone.  He figured either Erin would love the couples massage or hate it, but at least he would know where he stood!  An admirable move for sure!
