A Southern Wedding: The Inn at Warner Hall, Gloucester, VA

A Happy ONE YEAR Anniversary is in order for Ashley & Wythe, who tied the knot at The Inn at Warner Hall in Gloucester, Virginia a year ago this Sunday. To celebrate their first anniversary, I wanted to take you back to their special day last May.

An Unlikely Encounter

Ashley and Wythe met three and a half years ago at a local bar while they were out with friends. The irony is they each consider themselves “total homebodies”, so this was an unusual place for them to meet.  While they may look back and laugh at their unlikely encounter, their wedding day solidified their love and commitment, while bringing Ashley’s vision for a Southern wedding to life.

A Southern Coastal Wedding

When Ashley first came to Aleen Floral Design, she expressed a desire for a classic, southern, coastal ambiance.  The Inn at Warner Hall, a beautiful historic mansion set on lush grass property became the perfect setting for their celebration peppered with southern hospitality. The clean, simple hues of white blooms set against dark foliage completed Ashley’s vision.

Their cake, created by the ever so talented Cindy’s Cakery, was adorned with the most exquisite sugar magnolias.  Touches of Magnolia leaves paired with hints of oyster shells created a cohesive southern coastal theme.

Although Ashley’s heart was set on having magnolia blooms grace the patio tables, the Virginia trees did not cooperate with the timing of the wedding.  Aleen Floral Design scoured local neighborhoods in hopes of finding some trees in bloom, but alas blooms appeared two weeks after the wedding. You just can’t control nature!  To create the deep south look Ashley desired, we used a host of open white peonies paired with lush magnolia leaves. It all turned out beautifully.

It was a day we were truly blessed to be a part of and we wish Ashley and Wythe all the best in their adventures now and in the future!
