The Where, What, Why, and How...
Aleen Floral Design specializes in custom design for weddings, corporate event, and family celebrations. Getting to know you and your style is key to making your event come to life in the way you desire. We do this through an initial consultation that typically takes an hour. Consultations are best set up six months to a year in advance of your wedding, although we have designed some gorgeous weddings in a tighter time frame. Corporate events and family celebrations require a minimum of a month notice. However, we do book a limited number of events per year, so don't put off calling for too long.
Before getting the conversation started, you may be wondering about a few specifics...
Who should come to a consultation?
Any one who is a key person in your life, who will vouch for your style, and help you enjoy the design process. Your fiance, mom, sister, friend, or mother-in-law-to-be may fit the bill. Karen typically heads up the design consultations.
What should I bring?
Ideas! This is your special day. We want to get to know your personality and style. We understand that you don’t do this every day and may find it challenging to articulate your ideas. Images convey these non-tangible elements best. So bring on the magazine clippings, pinterest boards, and color swatches. We will listen carefully, pay attention to your overall style, and guide you to the flowers and accessories that reflect your vision.
Where do we meet?
Part of the joy of working out of a residential studio is frequenting various coffee shops for consultations. For the first consultation we enjoy meeting either at your favorite coffee stop, Starbucks, Barnes & Noble or on-location within the Richmond/Hampton Roads area.
For out of region events, we will gladly chat over the phone or Skype. And yes, we LOVE to travel. Destination events are definitely within our scope.
Why are there no prices on your site?
Season, color scheme, and flower varieties highly influence pricing. We have found that a customized approach is best in determining your floral design plan. You and your wedding or event is unique; we believe your floral design should be too. As a general rule, floral design comprises 12-15% of a total event budget. Aleen's wedding services begin at $1,200; corporate and family events vary with event scope.
How do we book our day with you?
We are so glad you asked! After our initial consultation, Karen composes a comprehensive quote and emails you a PDF version a few days before our second meeting. The second meeting serves as a time to review the quote together, answer your questions, and make adjustments if needed. This can be done over the phone or in person, which is a great time to meet on-location. A signed contract along with a 50% non-refundable deposit secures your date. The remaining balance is due two weeks before your wedding. Six weeks prior to your wedding we will call you to review details of table count, delivery timeline, and any other specifics necessary. Corporate events and family celebrations are handled on an order/invoice basis.
